Naya Daur Party, a political outfit which claims that it was the "backbone" of the Anna Hazare-led anti corruption movement, today announced its readiness to contest the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

The party, led by a group of professionals including doctors, engineers and lawyers, said that it is going to contest all the assembly seats.

Party President Sanjeev Chhiber said that the party has come up with a well thought-out agenda on crucial issues like health, education, women's safety, housing and sanitation.

"Our party of professionals was the backbone of the Anna movement. While others indulge in vote bank politics, Naya Daur is committed to rid India of hate politics manifesting in the form of Muzaffarnagar or Trilokpuri violence," Chhiber said at a press conference here.

The party, which was launched before the Delhi Assembly elections 2008, claims to have 20 lakh registered members, of which 3 lakh belong to Delhi.

The party announced grand plans on cleaning the Yamuna, citing extensive research on its part.

"Our Yamuna Project is based on extensive research which envisages the establishment of a Yamuna Dam at minimal cost, 16 water filtration plants and a 4-km water reservoir," he said.

Inviting "good people" in its ranks, the party declared that the selection of candidates willing to contest will be done through an online procedure.

To ensure the safety of women, the party said that it will ensure the creation of a 10,000-women strong "paramilitary force".

A host of other promises include a universal health insurance, creation of 5 million dwelling units in the next 5 years, a smaller municipal corporation which will oversee city maintenance by private companies that in turn will work on contract basis.
