A local court today issued a non-bailable warrant against Nautanwa MLA Amanmani Tripathi in connection with a kidnapping case lodged by a Gorakhpur-based contractor Rishi Kumar Pandey.

The court passed the order after rejecting an application moved on behalf of the MLA seeking exemption from appearance. Additional Sessions Judge Ashokeshwar Kumar Ravi held that the accused Tripathi was not co-operating in the trial.

The court also issued an NBW against another accused, Sandeep Tripathi. It fixed the next hearing in the case on October 9.

On August 6, 2014 Pandey had lodged an FIR against Amanmani Tripathi and others at the Gautampalli police station in Lucknow alleging that he was kidnapped for ransom.

A charge sheet was filed and the trial court framed charges against the accused on July 28.

The court had allowed the exemption plea of Amanmani Tripathi and Sandeep Tripathi on the previous date but again the same plea was raised today. The court issued NBWs stating that both the accused were willingly evading the proceedings.
