A court has issued a non- bailable warrant (NBW) against Union Minister P Balaram Naik and local MP P Rajaiah for "failing" to appear before it in a case related to their participation in an election meeting at a religious place last year.

The court of Fourth Additional First Class Magistrate yesterday issued the NBW against Naik and Rajaiah for not being present before it after a case was lodged against them for participating in the Assembly by-election meeting at a religious place in Station Ghanpur in February, 2012.

The counsel for Naik and Rajaiah also did not appear before the court yesterday.

The election officer had filed a case against the duo besides two others under Section 188 of IPC (disobedience order duly promulgated by public servant).

Meanwhile, their counsel filed a recall petition before the court today for withdrawing the NBW.

The case has been posted to August 1.
