NBWs against govt officials for skipping poll duty

The district election officer-cum-district magistrate of Kendrapara today issued non-bailable warrants (NBW) against 54 government employees who skipped poll duties, official sources said.

Sources said the officials who have been taken into task were deployed to undertake polling duties in the Mahakalpada Assembly segment.

54 officials were found absent for which NBWs were issued, said Kendrapara Collector, Nitin Bhanudas Jawale.

Meanwhile, the district recorded 63 per cent polling till 4 pm today for one Lok Sabha and five Assembly seats where voting is underway.

Voters who remained indoors due to blistering heat during mid-day came out in large numbers to cast their vote in the later part of the day.
