"NC represents aspirations of common people and its selfless service to public has always been above and consideration of creed, caste, colour, region or religion," Omar said at a party function here.

He said party has always worked for maintaining communal harmony, brotherhood and amity and the history is testimony of its secular and democratic credentials.

"The slogan of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh Ithad preached by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah continuously reverberates across the mountains, valleys and planes of Jammu and Kashmir," Omar said.

Stressing on enhancing public rapport, Omar asked his party workers to give their best in ensuring economically self reliant, peaceful and progressive Jammu and Kashmir.

"Your performance will be your best friend to go to next elections with your head high," he said.

He asked them to be actively involved in implementation of government's development policies and work for redressing public grievances.

Noting that 2013 will be the year of reaching out to the people of the state, the chief minister asked party workers to make people aware of government's achievements.

Addressing the meeting, party's state president Rattan Lal Gupta said that a rally of the party workers will be held in Jammu on December 16.
