All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today protested against the state government for delay in implementing the 73rd amendment of the Constitution and accused the ruling coalition partners of "playing a fixed match".

"We accuse both coalition partners - National Conference and Congress of playing a fixed match," AJKPC chairman Shafiq Mir told reporters after AJKPC members held a demonstration outside Press Club, Jammu protesting against the failure of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs) in the state.

Rejecting the two month extension given by Congress to National Conference for implementing the 73rd amendment, Mir described it as a mere time killing exercise by the two parties.

Holding the state government responsible for failure of PRIs in the state, the AJKPC leader said when the Assembly session is about to begin in six days, there is no logic in giving more time to the coalition partner for implementing the amendment.

AJKPC general secretary Anil Sharma said they were formulating a plan to defeat those who played anti-panchayat roles.

For the past six months, labourers employed under MGNREGA have not been paid their dues which is not only a violation of the Panchayati Raj Act, but also a violation of the MGNREGA Act, he added.
