The opposition National Conference today claimed that a party delegation was stopped by police from entering the curfew-bound Rajouri district.

The National Conference 'Sadhbavna' delegation, led by Provincial President Devender Singh Rana and comprising senior party functionaries, was stopped at Bamla by the District Administration and prevented from proceeding towards the border town, a party spokesman said.

He said that the delegation consisted of several senior leaders of the party including current and former MLAs and ministers from the party.

He said that the administration did not listen to the plea of National Conference leaders that they were going to the town with a message of peace and expressing solidarity with the people who have become fodder of murky politics being played by the coalition partners as part of diversionary tactics from the real issues.

Curfew was imposed in Rajouri town on Tuesday after some VHP activists reportedly burnt terror outfit IS's flag, leading to protests by minority groups who said that the flag bore religious scripture.
