Press Trust of India Srinagar
Opposition National Conference today demanded a time-bound probe into the death of a civilian at an encounter site in Chancer in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Provincial spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, "The NC legislators condemned the incident and demanded a time bound probe be announced to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death of Assadullah Kumar."

He also "condemned the alleged harassment of civilians in the area saying such an approach would result in further alienation of the people."

Demanding ex-gratia relief for the family of the victim and a job to the next of kin, Imran demanded that Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti break her silence on civilian killings.

Over the past couple of days, the situation in south Kashmir is "deteriorating" but the CM has decided to maintain complete silence, he alleged.
