"If we can host thousands of people in Kashmir, it becomes an inherent obligation of the leaders, politicians and people of other states to ensure that our students are safe," NC spokesman Tanvir Sadiq said in a statement.

Sadiq said the incident of alleged harassment of Kashmiri students of Swami Devi Dayal Institute of Engineering Technology, Barwala (Haryana) should not be repeated anywhere in the country.

"Such incidents will only alienate the people of the state from the rest of the country and can have far reaching consequences. We shall not tolerate such incidents in future," he said.
