Opposition National Conference today filed a complaint with election authorities against Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti for allegedly violating Model Code of Conduct by misusing official machinery during her filing of nomination papers for by-poll to Anantnag assembly segment.

"The contesting candidate Mehbooba Mufti has violated the model code of conduct by misusing official/government machinery while filing her nomination papers today," National Conference candidate for Anantnag by-poll Iftikhar Misger alleged in his complaint to District Election Officer.

Mehbooba Mufti today filed nomination papers for Anantnag seat, which fell vacant due to death of her father and sitting MLA Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.

"The contesting candidate Mehbooba Mufti has also violated the model code of conduct by hoisting state flag on her vehicles.

"Pertinent to mention here that her cabinet ministers violated the model code of conduct as well by hoisting state flags and while filing the nomination papers, used the official position for luring the voters," Misger alleged in his complaint.

He asked the election authorities to take action as warranted under law against Mehbooba.
