National Conference today asserted that the party will emerge as a force to reckon with in Jammu and Kashmir, claiming that the fractured mandate in the recent assembly elections in the state was manifestation of deceit by some political opportunists.
"We exude confidence about National Conference emerging as a force to reckon with," Party General Secretary and MLA from Khanyar constituency of Srinagar city Ali Mohammed Sagar said.
"NC desisted from indulging in real-politick as it firmly believes that such tactics were detrimental to the larger interest of the sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir," he said while reviewing the party performance in Rajouri and Poonch districts during the assembly elections.

Sagar reiterated that NC will overcome all its difficulties given its cadre base and said that more than winning or losing elections, it was imperative to sustain the political environment that has been generated due to relentless efforts of Omar Abdullah during the past six years.
"He succeeded in steering the state out of the morass and bringing a turnaround situation that enabled most successful Panchayat, Parliamentary and Assembly elections during his tenure," he maintained.
Urging grassroots functionaries to further intensify mass contact, he said NC is the only party presence of which can be seen even in the remotest pockets of Jammu and Kashmir.
"Our political struggle is full of sacrifices, we have suffered immensely for upholding the just cause of people, our workers and leaders have fell to the bullets but never compromised with their principles," he said.
He said the party has kept the flag of secularism aloft and worked for political emancipation and economic empowerment of all the segments of society.
