The Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday arrested one person after seizing huge number of Buprenorphine injection from his residence in Murshidabad district, an official of the agency said here.
Buprenorphine injection is used to relieve moderate to severe pain but some people use it as a narcotic drug.
After getting an input following interrogation of an arrested person in July, NCB sleuths raid at Alam Hossain's residence in Barun Jaladipur in Murshidabad district, NCB's Eastern zonal director Dilip Srivastava told PTI.
"Following the seizure of around 1825 ampules of Buprenorphine injection worth around Rs 6 lakh from his house, we arrested Hossain this evening. He will be produced before the Malda court tomorrow," he said.
Hossain used his import-export business in Malda as a front of his illegal drug dealing for about a decade, Srivastava said.
He was earlier arrested in the same ground of smuggling Buprenorphine to Bangladesh in 2010.
