The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) East Zone along with its Delhi counterpart busted a racket selling medicines through the Internet illegally, a senior officer of the agency said on Thursday.

Three persons who were using a call centre as a front for running the racket were arrested from in and around the city.

In a joint operation late Wednesday night which continued till wee hours, the NCB seized 3161 tablets of six types from the possession of the three, the officer said.

These seized drugs were worth Rs 10-15 lakh and were legal in India.

The three persons were arrested from Mahestala and Poddarnagar in the city and Shyamnagar in North 24 Parganas.

"The racket has been selling drugs through Internet without following norms. They were selling the drugs to countries such as the USA and Canada where these were labelled illegal," the IPS officer said.

"These drugs were provided by vendors and retailers in the city. We have also seized computers, laptops and various documents from the call centre," he said.
