A Narcotics Control Bureau team today seized a consignment of Ascetic Anhydride, a chemical used in preparation of narcotic drugs, in Jaipur and has arrested one person.
On a tip-off, a joint team of Jodhpur and Ahmedabad officials seized the chemical from a godown in Vishwakarma Industrial Area of Jaipur, NCB Zonal Director Neha Champawat said.
The consignment was smuggled from Gujarat and was headed to Uttar Pradesh, she added.
"Our investigation led us to a godown in the area, where we found 11.4 kg of the chemical hidden in 2 containers," Champawat said.
A person Islam, who had taken the godown on rent, has been arrested in this connection, she said, adding further investigations into the matter are on.
According to an officer, the seized quantity of chemical is good enough to make 8-10 kg of good quality contrabands.
