Aiming at inculcating spirit of adventure and healthy competition among cadets, 60 Naval Wing NCC cadets, including 20 girls from various colleges and schools, in four Whaler Class Boats, sailed 430 km from Farakka, to arrive in the city today.
The cadets belonging to West Bengal and Sikkim NCC directorate were flagged-in at the "Man-of-War" jetty by Major General Ashok Kumar, GOC, Bengal Area and Maj Gen Ashish Kumar Ghosh, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate of West Bengal & Sikkim.
The expedition, besides building up mental and physical toughness, camaraderie, stamina, alertness and ability to integrate as a team of disciplined cohesive body for facing tough situations, was flagged off on October 15.

The cadets were imparted naval oriented training including boat pulling, handling and towing, sailing, river-navigation, visual and radio telephony communication.
During the expedition, the cadets also participated in social service activities like visiting orphanages, blind school and senior citizens homes, "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan", "Keep the Ganga Clean" and "Save the girl child" campaigns at places where they halted.
