NCC prepares youth to face emerging challenges: Kataria

Lt Governor Virendra Kataria has observed that the National Cadet Corps plays a distinct role in preparing youth with efficiency and effectiveness 'to face challenges emerging due to globalisation, liberalisation and technological developments' and to also come out successfully.

Felicitating 112 NCC cadets of the Republic Day contingent 2014 of NCC Directorate of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar Islands on return from Delhi, he said youth constitute one third of the population and are a major human resource.

The youth have the potential to shape the nation's destiny and it was therefore imperative to develop a strong youth force to face the challenges and make them contribute towards the growth of the nation, he said, adding that nation building exercise is the need of the hour.
 

The cadet strength of the Directorate of NCC of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Andaman and Nicobar islands is more than one lakh.

Cadets from the Directorate had defended its championship title in the all India Vayu Sainik Camp' and finished 'second runners up in the all India Nau Sainik Camp', a release said.

Commodore K S Aiyappa, Deputy Director General of the Directorate welcomed those present and detailed the activities of the directorate.

Officials of Puducherry NCC were also present.
