Northern Coalfields Ltd (NCL) on Wednesday said it has installed a 'universal equipment simulator' on maneuvering heavy earthmovers at the Central Excavation Training Institute (CETI).
The simulator, "a first for the Indian coal industry", will impart training to dragline, shovel and dozer operators, the company said in a statement.
"The operators will get hands-on training for maneuvering the heavy earthmovers through the new universal simulator. The aim is to equip operators with the skills to maneuver the earthmovers in real-life settings of an opencast coal mine," it said.
"The new universal simulator will contribute significantly in the safety of operators and valuables. NCL will extend its training capabilities to other subsidiaries of CIL (Coal India Ltd)," NCL CMD P K Sinha said.
CETI is located inside NCL's headquarters at Singrauli in Madhya Pradesh.
