The state unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today staged a rally here to demand installation of traffic lights and speed breakers in high traffic areas of Jammu to check road accidents.
The demonstration was led by NCP State General Secretary, Sudarshan Choudhary and saw participation of school students in large numbers.
"Government should install traffic lights and speed breakers in high intensity traffic zones in the State", Choudhary said.
The NCP leader also called for construction of subways to make road crossing safe for school-going children and aged persons.
Attributing rise in fatal accidents to lack of safety measures at critical points, Choudhary warned that partymen would sit on dharna to block the National Highway if required steps were not immediately taken by the government.
