Opposition NCP today submitted a no confidence motion against the Maharashtra Legislative Council's Chairman Shivajirao Deshmukh.
State NCP chief Sunil Tatkare said that the party had submitted a letter on Monday and proposed Dhananjay Munde as leader of opposition in the upper house.
"I and Ajit Pawar had staked our claim because we have 29 members in the council. But there is no announcement of leader of opposition yet. We have raised this issue in the House also. Therefore, today evening we submitted a no confidence motion against the chairman," he said.
The issue came up in the House earlier in the day. The chairman had to adjourn the House for 30 minutes following a ruckus.
