NCP group leader in the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) Hanumant Jagdale resigned from the post on Thursday, citing concentration of power in a "single person".
However, Jagdale will continue as a corporator of the party.
Addressing a news conference here, Jagdale said he has sent his three-page resignation letter to Maharashtra NCP president Jayant Patil.
"It has been a tradition in the NCP that corporators of the party are taken into confidence before any decision is taken in the civic body.
"However, since the last two years such a procedure has been done away within the NCP and decisions are taken by a single person and other party leaders are not at all consulted," Jagdale said, giving reasons for his resignation.
Jagdale, however, did not identify the "single person" he was referring to.
