NCP MLA in Goa Churchill Alemao on Thursday demanded that 80 per cent jobs in the casino industry in the state be reserved for Goans.

Alemao, while speaking on the demand for grants of the Revenue Department during the ongoing session of the Assembly, said that majority of the workforce in the casino industry is from the north-eastern states.

"I can understand that you want casino industry as it helps the state exchequer earn revenue. But they should provide 80 per cent employment opportunities to Goans," he said.

Alemao said there was no job in the industry that Goans cannot do.

"We have educated youths, waiting for employment opportunities. They should be employed in the casinos," he said.

Goa has six offshore and over a dozen onshore casinos operating in the state.
