Amid uncertainty over its support to the new BJP government in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena today issued a veiled warning to the Fadnavis government against NCP's offer of outside support and dubbed the move by Sharad Pawar's party as a "poisonous overture."

The BJP government has not yet commented on NCP's decision to extend outside support, Sena's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut wrote in an article in party mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"If this poisonous overture is to pressurise Sena, then the new government will have to face the consequences of the poison," he said.

"Ex-CM Prithviraj Chavan sat over 100 files related to corruption to save the government and enjoy power. The new CM, who also has a clean image, has to be more careful," said Raut, the executive editor of 'Saamana'.

The elevation of Fadnavis as Chief Minister of Maharashtra was a good omen as he has been a strong votary of separate Vidarbha state, he said.

"We hope Devendra Fadnavis will prove to be a good ruler like Nana Phadnavis, who played a pivotal role in holding the Maratha kingdom together after the third battle of Panipat," Raut said.
