NCP leader and former minister Suresh Dhas was today suspended for six years for indulging in the "anti-party activities".

State unit president Sunil Tatkare said in a statement that Dhas has violated the party directives during recently-held elections to Panchayat Samitis and Zilla Parishads.

"There are complaints that he extended the help to Opposition parties in the Beed district for the zilla parishad president and vice-president elections," the statement said.

As per reports, a group of winning NCP candidates in Beed, led by Dhas, indirectly supported the BJP to prevent Dhananjay Munde, leader of Opposition in the legislative council, from taking credit for the party's victory.
