National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has proposed a fee waiver for a year for the children of farmers affected by crop failure, the government informed Lok Sabha today.
Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi, in a written reply, said the NCPCR has urged the HRD Ministry to reimburse the fee and provide entitlements to children of farmers affected by the unseasonal rain and hailstorm.
"In view of the unseasonal rain and hailstorm in the first week of March, 2016 in north, western and central India, NCPCR has written to the Ministry of Human Resources Development to reimburse the fee and to provide entitlements to the children of farmers, especially small farmers, under section 12(1)(c) of the RTE Acr 2009," Gandhi said.
