The caretaker of an NGO-run shelter home was arrested for allegedly raping, filming and threatening minor girls who stayed there. The arrest occurred after the victims' teacher alerted the authorities.

A team from NCPCR found that the NGO 'Suparna Ka Aangan' did not have permission to run the orphanage where the alleged sexual abuse of several minor girls has come to light.

The Commission team also found that 24 children, out of 71 registered inmates, were missing from the shelter for poor children, a statement issued by NCPCR said. The NCPCR said it was the second such case that to come to light in Gurgaon in the last three months.

The child rights body today said that it had summoned senior officials of Haryana Government to discuss the situation of such child homes in the state.

The officials who have been summoned are Finance Commissioner, Principal Secretary (Education), Principal Secretary (Women and Child) and the DGP of the state, NCPCR said.

Deputy Commissioners and Police Commissioners of the towns of Gurgaon and Faridabad have also been summoned.
