NCSC chief visits Ghaziabad to review justice for SCs

National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) Chairman P L Punia visited the city to review the incidents of atrocities and pendency of land disputes against members of Scheduled castes.

He was addressing the district administration and police officials at the collectorate here yesterday.

Punia asked the officials to be in their offices at 10 am sharp till 12 noon and hear out the grievances of the general public and to pay special attention to the grievances of SC community, District Information Officer Surendra Sharma said.

The Chairman noted that the police must ensure that complaints of SC people are heard patiently and FIRs are lodged so that the aggrieved do not have to take the judicial route.
 

Sharma said that out of the total 81 cases concerning SC, Punia disposed off 12 land disputes and 58 cases of atrocities against the members of SC community.

SSP Dharmendra Singh and District Magistrate Vimal Kumar Sharma assured the Chairman that remaining 11 cases will be disposed off soon.
