Taking cognisance of the incident involving a 10-year-old dalit rape victim who was allegedly detained in a lock up by police in UP's Bulandshahr, National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has issued a summon to the district Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP).

"NCSC Chairman P L Punia has earlier sent a Commission team to Bulandshahr to gather facts of the case, after it appeared in newspapers and channels," NCSC officials said here today.

The Commission has sent the notice to SSP Gulab Singh asking him to appear before it on April 15.

"The NCSC team has submitted a report on the incident to the Commission. Based on which, the Commission Chairman has decided to summon SSP, Bulandshahr to the Commission on April 15 at 1200 hours," they added.

A commission release also said that the girl was put up in the police lock up for around 20 hours. She was released only after the locals protested.

Two women constables have been suspended and two sub inspectors including the station-in-charge have been taken off active duty after the incident came out.
