NCSTs received 73 complaints from Jharkhand: Govt

The National Commission for Scheduled Tribe (NCSTs) has received 73 complaints from Jhakhand this year till July, the maximum number of such cases from any state.

The over 70 complaints pertain to -- job (33), atrocity (20) and land (19).

This is followed by Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh which reported 70, 65, 63, 59 and 57 such complaints respectively, in the same period, Minister of Tribal Affairs Sunil Kumar Mondal said in a reply in Lok Sabha today.

Tripura (48) and West Bengal (42) also reported large number of complaints related to job, atrocity, land, education, among other factors.
 

From Jharkhand, NCSTs, last year, had received 154 complaints followed by Madhya Pradesh (151), Rajasthan (128), Odisha (90), Chhattisgarh (89) and Maharashtra (86).

Most of the complaints are related to job.

According to the Ministry, all the representations received in the Commission have been dealt with within a time frame, as per rules and procedures of the NCSTs.
