The National Commission for Women (NCW) today wrote to Home Minister Rajnath Singh seeking his intervention over alleged police inaction in the case pertaining to trafficking of two women to Oman.

The NCW cited a media report that the women, rescued from Oman, were trafficked by travel agents and pushed into prostitution.

The report highlighted that the victims were under constant threat and the police inaction in the matter was also highlighted, the commission said.

It was also reported that most of the victims taken to Oman were lured by agents with the promise of better job prospects.

The NCW requested the home minister to issue necessary directions for free and fair probe into the matter and take appropriate action against the culprits.
