The strong stand of the NDA government, unlike its predecessor, has forced neighbouring countries like China and Pakistan to take a back step, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir said here today.

Ahir was in the city to felicitate Lieutenant General Rajendra Nimbhorkar, the Indian Army's Master General of the Ordnance, for his distinguish service.

Lt Gen Nimbhorkar had played an important role in the surgical strike carried out by the Indian army on terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016.

"By carrying out the surgical strike India sent a strong message not only to Pakistan but to the entire world. If the NDA government had not come to power in 2014, the situation at the border would have been very difficult for India," Ahir told the audience in an auditorium on the occasion.

"Our government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a strong response to the aggression shown by Pakistan and China.

"India gave strong response to Pakistan by carrying out the surgical strike while China had to take back step in Doklam standoff," the minister said.
