The CPI-M Wednesday accused the BJP-led NDA government of "destroying" institutions in the country and demanded that government stop "interfering" in the Reserve Bank of India's functioning.

CPI-(M) also flayed the Centre for the current state of affairs in the countrys premier investigative agency--CBI.

"NDA government is hell-bent upon destroying every institution of India. The latest example is CBI.

The Prime Minister himself intervened and removed officials," CPI(M) politburo member B V Raghavulu told reporters here.

The Left leader alleged that the independence of RBI is now being destroyed because of the NDA government.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's statements show that they have scant respect for autonomous institutions, Raghavulu said.

"That's why the continuation of NDA government further will destroy our democracy and destroy ourinstitutions and it will lead to fascistic method of functioning in future," he said.

"Thats why CPI-M demands immediate removal of the NDA government."

He said the central bank's independence should be restored and government should not iinterfere in the proceedings of the RBI.

Raghavulu demanded that a SIT be constituted to inquire into what he termed "corruption charges" against CBI official Rakesh Asthana and certain allegations against the interim CBI chief in a time bound manner.

Slamming BJP and RSS over their comments and anti-Sabarimala verdict protests, Raghavulu said they should go for a review petition in the Supreme Court rather than creating trouble and vandalise properties in Kerala.

"It is the Supreme Court which allowed entry of women of every age to Sabarimala temple and the Left front government is duty bound to implement that," Raghavulu said.

"If BJP, RSS or somebody else who is not accepting the judgment, they can go for review petition. Instead of doing that, they are creating trouble and they are vandalising the properties and obstructing women (devotees)," he said.

He condemned BJP president Amit Shah's recent remark that party workers "would not hesitate to pull down the left government" if Ayyappa devotees were attacked.

"This is sheer autocracy and authoritarianism... BJP and NDAs real nature is exposed now," Raghavulu said.
