"People are talking such things as they are fully aware that BJP-led NDA is coming to power at the Centre," he told reporters when asked about Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's comments during an interview that Sushma Swaraj is the only "deserving" BJP leader who would be a "great choice" for the Prime Minister's post.
He said the alleged scam in allocation of coal blocks was not due to corruption of the ruling coalition, but that of the Congress.
"Prime Minister Manmohan Singh must resign owning moral responsibility for the scam which has cost the exchequer a loss of Rs 1.89 lakh crore," he said.
Kumar demanded cancellation of all 145 mines allotted without inviting bids as well as an impartial probe into the matter.
He said since DMK ministers A Raja and Dayanidhi Maran allegedly involved in the 2G scam and Suresh Kalmadi of the Congress allegedly involved in the CWG scam were forced to resign from the Cabinet, the prime minister should also resign on moral grounds in the alleged coal block allocation scam.
