A hardcore NDFB(S) militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Assam's Kokrajhar district, official sources said today.
Acting on a tip-off, patrolling army troops launched an operation in Moinaguri under Kochugaon police station and an encounter followed in which the militant was killed on the spot.
The slain militant has been identified as Raja Basumatary and a pistol was recovered from his possession, sources added.
