One NDFB-Songbijit militant was today arrested in Assam's Chirang district and recovered explosives from his possession ahead of Independence Day celebrations, a top police officer said here.

The extremist identified as 23-year-old Unsula Boro alias Bir Dao was heading towards Guwahati when he was apprehended along with the explosives - four hand grenades and similar number of detonators - at Matanga Chowk under Tamulpur police station area, IGP L R Bishnoi told PTI.
