As monsoon approaches Uttar Pradesh, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) today conducted a mock exercise to guage its preparedness for the recurring annual floods.
According to Met officials, monsoon is likely to cover the entire state by end of June.
The exercise was held in collaboration with State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), an official release said here.
The simulation exercise was conducted in 23 flood-prone districts of the state at the same time to assess the preparedness of the state's machinery to handle the disaster, it added.
The exercise helped improve the administration's capacity in mobilising resources and reaching out to the affected communities swiftly in case of an actual flood situation, it said.
The NDMA has so far conducted more than 600 mock exercises for various disaster situations across the country, the release added.
