North Delhi Municipal Corporation today said it was going through the medical files of the reported dengue casualties in the city to arrive at a tally of those who have succumbed to the disease so far.

North Delhi Mayor Azad Singh had yesterday said he had received reports of "11 more deaths from the Shahbad-Daulatpur area in the Rohini Zone" due to dengue.

The civic body in a statement said that a list of persons who died recently due to dengue was "provided to Mayor Singh by the residents of Shahbad-Daulatpur yesterday".

"NDMC's Health Department made efforts to find out the facts. They went to the hospitals where the patients had been treated or to their residences today," the release added.

NDMC suspended the Deputy Health Officer and the Malaria Inspector of Rohini Zone for their inability to check the spread of the disease.

The cases are being examined and details are being sought to verify the reasons for the deaths of the patients in question, the release added. MCD is likely to bring out its official dengue report soon.

Meanwhile, NDMC today deployed three vehicle-mounted and nine other fogging machines, 43 domestic breeding checkers, five anti-larvae teams and three mini power sprays to help in the fight against dengue.

"Vehicles to spread awareness about dengue and its preventive measures and two mobile dispensaries with eight medical staff to check mosquito breeding in the Shahbad- Daulatpur area have also been deployed," the statement said.

With 1,355 cases of dengue reported so far, all three municipal bodies have intensified their drives to check the disease.
