NDMC Chairman Jalaj Srivastava, who was recently transferred to Agriculture Ministry, relinquished charge today even as the Home Ministry is yet to decide on the appointment of next chairman.

"Jalaj Shrivastava relinquished the charge of NDMC Chairman today and handed over to Dharm Pal, IAS, Principal Secretary (Social Welfare and Women and Child Welfare), who will be looking after the charge of NDMC Chairman in addition to his duties," the civic body said in a statement today.

Srivastava, a 1984-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the additional secretary in the Union Agriculture Ministry.

He took over as NDMC chairman in August 2013 during the Sheila Dikshit government.

"Launch of free WiFi in Connaught Place and Khan Market, waste management plants, automated parking, smart digital poles and rooftop solar city project were among the few projects undertaken by him," it said.
