NDMC commissioner orders removal of illegal hoardings

The Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) today directed senior officials of the civic body to ensure removal of all illegal hoardings from the six zones within the next two days.

Commissioner Praveen Gupta issued direction to the deputy commissioners of all six zones for removal of illegal hoardings within the next two days, according to an NDMC statement.

"Illegal hoardings are put up without paying the due amount to the corporation and many of them also defy the Defacement of Property Act 2007. Hence, in a strong action, we will make sure that all illegal hoardings are removed," Gupta said.
 

The statement said nearly 800 illegal hoardings had been removed by the NDMC since January 15 this year till date, besides taking other actions against them under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act 2007.

Out of the total such hoardings removed in all the six zones, 329 were religious and political boards; 404 were sunpack sheet or banners; 294 were commercial boards; 32 were flexes and 15 each were wall wraps or self signages and unipole hoardings.

The maximum number of 213 political and religious hoardings were removed from Rohini Zone. The zone also had the highest number of 163 commercial boards removed.
