Six zonal teams have been constituted by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation with officials drawn from various civic agencies, to gear up ahead of the monsoon and avoid lack of co-ordination among them, the NDMC said today.

NDMC has constituted six teams of officials comprising from the North Corporation, Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and Irrigation and Flood Control Department so that citizens do not face any inconvenience during the upcoming monsoon season due to lack of coordination among the various civic agencies, North Delhi Mayor Yogender Chandolia said in a statement.

Chandolia said that one team each for the six zones of the NDMC will be led by a senior elected representatives of the corporation.

"The teams will visit their respective zones on June 16, inspect the preparedness for monsoon, such as desilting of drains, cleaning of bellmouths, among others. The teams will especially focus on vulnerable points which cause great inconvenience to people during the rains due to waterlogging," he said.

Chandolia along with NDMC Commissioner Praveen Gupta would lead the team that would inspect the most sensitive area of walled city from the point of view of drainage. It said.

The North Delhi Mayor further said that every year the civic agencies "blame" each other for not desilting their drains, causing waterlogging due to poor outfall.

"We have constituted teams with officials from different civic agencies of Delhi so that citizens should not suffer and that too because of multiplicity of civic agencies and poor coordination among them," he said.
