A newly-constructed building of a municipal community hall worth Rs 68 lakh, in north Delhi's Badli Village area was today thrown open to the public.

North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta inaugurated the new facility in ward number 17, which will have one hall, one room, two toilet blocks for men and women on each floor.

"The corporation is going through financial crunch and unable to pay even salary to employees on time and old-age pension from so many months. We are in discussion with Delhi government and hope soon we would be able to pay old age pension," Gupta said.

Area councillor Mamta Rathor said the community centre building has been developed in an area of 1,564.63 sqm at a cost of nearly Rs 68 lakh.
