North Delhi Municipal Corporation has released Rs six crore for payment of old age and other welfare pensions to around 60,000 beneficiaries, Mayor Ravinder Gupta said here today.
"Rs 6 crore has been released now and more money will be released in next one week for payment of pensions to the beneficiaries in all the wards," Gupta said, amid protests by the Opposition Congress councillors, who disrupted the meeting of the NDMC House over the issue.
Leader of the House Yogendra Chandolia said in financial year 2015-16, Rs 11 crore has been disbursed for payment of pension.

With the release of Rs 6 crore today and another installment of Rs 2 crore in the next couple of days, all the beneficiaries in 55 wards of NDMC will get pension for the period June to August 2015, Chandolia said.
The beneficiaries get old age, physical disability and widow pensions of Rs 1200 per month.
There has been a delay of several months in payment of their pensions due to poor financial condition of the civic body.
