Seeking to enhance its revenues, North Delhi Municipal Corporation will now explore commercial viability of utilising unused lands or properties under its jurisdiction in the city.

NDMC's Municipal Commissioner Praveen Kumar Gupta has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Additional Commissioner (Revenue) Renu K Jagdev to enhance the revenue generation of the civic body by optimum utilisation of the vacant land or properties under its jurisdiction.

"The committee would examine the ways in which the unused municipal lands or properties can be utilised by exploring their commercial viability," Gupta was quoted as saying in a statement today by the NDMC.

All zonal deputy commissioners and heads of the departments have been directed to provide details of all vacant municipal lands/properties, which are not required by the zone or department or area or are not in use, to the committee constituted, within a week time, it said.

The committee comprises remunerative cell director, chief engineer, chief law officer, superintending engineer, executive engineer, additional deputy commissioner (land and estate department) and the administrative officer (remunerative cell) as the member secretary.

The committee will submit its progress and recommendations to the commissioner on a fortnightly basis.
