National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel today successfully evacuated six pregnant women in flood-hit areas of Bihar and took them to nearest hospital for delivery.
Six pregnant women were evacuated and taken to nearest hospital in flood-hit Muzaffarpur, Purnea and Katihar districts during relief and rescue operation carried by the force in inundated areas of Bihar, a NDRF statement said.
Commandant of 9th NDRF Battalion based in Bihta in Patna district said that the force boats have a nursing staff as well a Medical First Respondent who helps pregnant women and others who needs immediate medicare.

A total of 23 NDRF teams are rendering services to marooned people in different parts of Bihar.
Three teams each are deployed in Motihari, Bettiah, Purnea and Sitamarhi, two teams are engaged in operation in Kisanganj and Katihar while one team each is deployed in Supual, Gopalganj, Darbhanga, Araria, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur and Patna districts, the statement said.
The statement said that today the NDRF personnel evacuated 4,580 people from flooded areas and took them to saver places.
The trained NDRF personnel also saved lives of three persons, two in Bettiah and one in Purnea, from drowning in flood waters.
