Media firm NDTV today said former Attorney-General of India Soli Sorabjee will be its ombudsman who will provide an independent perspective on its coverage and investigate viewers complaints.
"Sorabjee in his honorary position will be entirely independent from NDTV and will investigate any complaints viewers may have about NDTV's coverage," the company said in a statement.
Commenting on the appointment, NDTV Group Vice Chairperson KVL Narayan Rao, said: "Soli Sorabjee is an independent, highly respected, highly regarded legal luminary, with years of experience in handling issues relating to freedom of expression and freedom of the press and censorship. We are delighted he has agreed to be the Ombudsman for NDTV."
Sorabjee has had a distinguished legal career, having been appointed both Solicitor General and Attorney General of India. Besides, he was also appointed to many human rights related UN commissions.
