The 32-year-old Grammy winner said he hopes to rope in both Obama and hip hop star Kanye West for a song, reported Politico.

"He (Obama) has a good singing voice," Ne-Yo said.

"Me and Obama and Kanye, I think it would be a very politically incorrect song."

Ne-Yo, who's a supporter of the president, also said "it's a possibility" that he'll namedrop Obama in a song at some point.

Ne-Yo was in DC to be honored at the '2012 National Angels in Adoption' gala by the Congressional Coalition on Adoption Institute for his work on raising awareness about children in foster care.

Actress Katherine Heigl and her husband, musician Josh Kelley, were also recognised. Heigl spent Wednesday afternoon on Capitol Hill discussing animal advocacy, and the couple took a tour of the White House on Tuesday.

On Twitter, Kelley posted a picture of Obama boarding Marine One, and Heigl said they'd met Bo, the first dog. "He is adorable!" she gushed.
