Nearly two lakh devotees took part in the wooden chariot procession of Lord Venkateswara near here today, amid chanting of vedic hymns on the penultimate day of the Navaratri Brahmotsavam festivities.
The centuries old ritual idols of Lord Venkateswara and his divine consorts Sri Lakshmi and Sri Padmavathi, adorned with several gem set ornaments, were mounted on the 'garuda vahana' (carrier), temple officials said.
Amid chanting the divine names of the Lord, devotees pulled the chariot around the more than 2000-year old sprawling temple complex with the help of huge twin ropes tied to the divine vehicle.
The nine-day Brahmotsavam festivities began on September 23.
