A section of AIADMK Advocates Wing here today extended support to Chief Minister O Paneerselvam.
Talking to reporters here, the wing's Treasuer Selvaraj said nearly 200 lawyers were supporting Paneerselvam as he was identified by late chief minister Jayalalithaa as her political successor.
Moreover, the lawyers did not want the efforts of AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran and Jayalalithaa, who built the party and taken it to a high level, to go in vain, by vesting it in "the wrong hands", he said.
Meanwhile, more than 60 anti-social elements were taken into custody in the last two days as a preventive measure to avert possible violence in view of prevailing political crisis in the state, police said.
