Nagaland Home Commissioner R Ramakrishnan today stressed on the importance of having a comprehensive database system to enable planners to plan effectively by allocating the scarce resource of the state to achieve the desired objective of development.
Addressing the 12th National Statistics Day held under the aegis of Directorate of Economics and Statistics here, Ramakrishnan said that accurate data was required for any policy formulation and its implementation.
He also informed that the state government is also working towards improving the data management system while the introduction of Aadhaar and digital payment systems have been helping in systematising data procurement.
As per the Village Level Development Indicators (VLDI) published by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, during 2016-17 a survey was conducted on 1326 villages out of the 1428 villages in rural areas of the state.
The joint director of department Neidilhou Angami said some of the key findings of the survey were that out of 1326 villages, 1325 villages were electrified except Aboiri village under Tamlu block of Longleng district.
A total of 644 villages were connected by surface road, 1317 villages by unsurface road, which indicates that some of the villages are connected by both surface and unsurface road.
Altogether 192 villages were accessible by government transport facility and 942 villages by private transport.
