Need quality education for upliftment of society: Tarun Gogoi

"Only by offering courses with relevance to the needs of the current society to the students and youths it would be possible to take the society forward and make the country free of poverty and unemployment," Gogoi said during the inaugural ceremony of the newly built Animal Reproduction building at the College of Veterinary Science here.

He also laid the foundation stone of the proposed indoor stadium at the institute.

The Chief Minister said his government is giving top priority to agriculture and veterinary science.

"Agriculture and veterinary science have always played a key role in the economy of Assam," he said.

 

Gogoi said the government would extend financial assistance to the tune of Rs 10 crore for the Assam Agricultural University for its infrastructure development.

Spaeking on the occasion, Assam Agriculture Minister Nilamoni Sen Deka said the governmnent has taken slew of measures for benefit of farmers who suffered losses during the three waves of floods which hit the state this year.

He said the government is confident of being able to recover the loss to farm production by having a good rabi harvest during the winter months.
