Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that with the changing trend of crime, the police was facing increasing challenges and there was a need to equip the force with latest technology.
Paying a tribute to policemen who laid down their lives on the line of duty, he said that with the changing scenario, types of crimes were also changing, which were posing new challenges before the police.
The Chief Minister said that new dimensions were adding, specially in economic crimes and therefore the police has to be equipped with providing latest technology.

Yadav also made an appeal to the policemen to work with honesty, dedication and a sense of public service.
He said that the state government was taking all efforts for the families of the martyred policemen and the ex-gratia had already been hiked to Rs 20 lakh from Rs 10 lakh.
He said that after the SP came to power, around 34,000 un-gazetted policemen were promoted.
